The Bistro Lighting Process
1. Start the Conversation
Fill out our lead form, and we will set up a call covering the space, your event date, guest count, and how much of the area needs to be lit.
2. On-Site Visit and Layout
We visit the property to measure spans, identify anchor points, and check available power. Where no structure exists, we plan pole placement during that visit.
3. Your Free Custom Quote
We build an itemized proposal covering strand count, mounting requirements, power, labor, and removal, then review it with you before anything is scheduled.
4. Professional Installation
Our crew sets the supports, rigs each run, and tensions the strands so they hang level. Every connection is checked, power is routed out of sight, and safety at each mounting point is confirmed before we leave.
5. Event Support and Removal
We stay reachable through your event, then return to remove the installation and any supports we set, on the schedule the property or venue requires.

Frequently Asked Questions
What Is Bistro Lighting?
Bistro lighting is overhead string lights hung across an outdoor space on cable-supported strands, with bulbs spaced along each run. The light is warm and diffuse rather than directional, which is why it works for dining and gathering areas. Strung overhead it defines a ceiling across an open space, so a patio or lawn reads as a room instead of open ground.
How Many Strands Does My Space Need?
Coverage depends on the square footage you want lit and the layout of the runs. A straight run across a patio needs far fewer strands than a crossed canopy over a dance floor, which is the layout most people picture. We measure the space and map the runs during the site visit, then give you a strand count in the proposal rather than an estimate over the phone, so you are not spending money on strands the space does not need.
Can Bistro Lighting Stay Up in Bad Weather?
Yes. Sockets, connectors, and cabling are rated for outdoor exposure and sealed to protect against moisture, so rain and cold do not take the installation down. Proper mounting matters as much as the components — a span rigged with correct tension and secured anchor points handles wind that would pull down a strand hung off a nail. That rigging is the part people underestimate.
Is Bistro Lighting Good for Weddings?
It's one of the most requested looks we install. The warm light flatters skin tones in photographs, the overhead canopy gives a reception the intimacy an open lawn lacks, and it carries a romantic ambiance without competing with florals or decor. Most couples pair it with uplighting so the walls and the ceiling are both doing work.
Can Bistro Lighting Be Installed Where There's Nothing to Hang From?
Yes. Open lawns, fields, and courtyards without structure need poles or anchor points set specifically for the run. We plan those supports during the site visit, install them for the event, and remove them afterward so the property is left as we found it.
Does Bistro Lighting Give Enough Light to Actually See By?
Yes, and that's part of why it works. A properly planned run provides functional illumination for dining, walking, and gathering, not just decoration. Bulb spacing and strand count set the level, so a dinner service and a dance floor get different layouts. We plan the run for how the space will actually be used.
How Far in Advance Should I Book?
The earlier the better, particularly for spring and fall wedding dates when most of our event calendar fills. Booking early also gives us time to walk the property before your date rather than working from photos, which matters most on open lawns and gardens where supports have to be planned rather than found.
