Allure Indian Bistro

The Project

We had the pleasure of creating a new concept in the restaurant industry.   The idea was to transform the restaurant from lunchtime to dinner to create a new environment.  This was accomplished by adding 90+ wall washers to color the walls and then setting them on a daily pattern to slowly fade colors.  If you are dining for an hour or 2, the color of the walls will be a different shade as you leave than when you came in.  We created texture on the wall by using break-up patterns and highlighted the bar with light boxes designed to highlight to bottles that will be displayed.

Factory Atlanta

The Project

The client was looking for a 360-projection set up for their event space to be able to transform their venue. The walls being white in the venue as well as being able to cut out a lot of ambient light, allowed us to use 7K lumen projectors to complete the project.  While we were installing this project, we were still delayed by covid manufacturing and shipping delays, which lead us to have a step-by-step phase-in of all the projectors.  The first 2 walls were completed.  A bit later, the 3rd wall was completed.  Then the 4th wall was completed, and the Factory became one of the few venues in the Atlanta metro area to offer 360 projection for their guests.

Overtime Elite Basketball Finals & Amazon Music

The Project

We had the opportunity to work at the OTE arena to help promote their partnership with Amazon Music during the Overtime Elite basketball finals.  For this installation, we had got to work with the great minds at 6 degrees to create a great photo op.  With 6 degrees providing the backdrop and layout, it was up to our team at Illuminating Design to bring it to life.  We used the logos of both Overtime Elite and Amazon music as the focal point of our projection.  While having music videos playing on the OTE logo, we were able to add a lava or fire design to the Amazon Music logo as well as other designs to create a unique photo op. Apparently, the design captured the eye of the cameraman streaming the event, so it was the feature of the stream during multiple stops of play.

Women In Technology

The Project

We had the opportunity to work with Women in Technology to create a wow factor for their annual gala in 2022 by using projection technology.  The event was held at the Roxy, and the vision was to transform the lobby of the venue into a new world  with tech.  Through a series of meetings, we decided projection was the way to create the overall look they were desiring.  We brought in 8 projectors to create two full walls of projections which would rotate through tech-based scenarios.  To add to the experience, we added par lights, which were tied into the overall programming of the images and were able to produce colors that matched the images being seen to make it an all-encompassing display.

With the rotating scenes, it was fun to hear all the conversations about what scene they entered into.
The biggest challenge of the project was finding an area to project on that would not take away from the experience.  We were able to solve this by bringing in pipe and drape and creating our own screen to project onto.  This allowed us to provide a clear image and create a magical experience.

We also included up lights as well as projecting corporate sponsor logos throughout the theater.

Skater Things - Stranger Things Netflix Event

The Project

For the season 4 premiere, we were tasked with transforming the Cascade skating rink into an 80s-styled skating rink for the night.  We had a lot of fun projecting 80s theme designs onto the skating rink ceiling as well as providing lighting to fit the mood.  Throughout the evening, things got a bit more mysterious with a portal to the Upside Down opening through the roof.  The combination of the lighting, video previews, sounds, and projection created a real-life Stranger Things experience which was capped off by the appearance of some of the cast.

Alma

The Project

Alma is a town with a population of under 3500 people according to the 2020 census.  They did not have a well-lit downtown area and reached out to the large power company and were told it would take them years to have streetlights installed.  We were tasked with finding a way to provide the city with lighting which would both be impactful as well as still hold that small town America feel.  We partnered with the city of Alma to create a stretch of downtown with overhead bistro lights creating a clean x pattern through the city.  This installation will not only add to the beauty of the city but provide some security and safety lighting as well.

Blairsville

The Project

The city was looking for a way to make the square more engaging for the residents and visitors alike.  We provided them with a year-round lighting solution which can be set to any season.  By highlighting the perimeter of the historic courthouse, the city can now change the lighting for each holiday throughout the year or for any events they may be hosting.

Smyrna

The Project

Smyrna has been known for their large holiday light display.  It had grown to the point that it was taking too many man hours away from their facilities team to handle.  Our team was contacted with the assignment to reimagined the area to create a truly unique experience for the residents to explore.  We were able to use multiple different types of lighting including static string lights, lights with slight motion, Programmable light, as well as themed lighting.  By utilizing these different lights we were able to create a display for all viewers to enjoy.  The added visitors allowed businesses to increase revenues through the entire holiday season.

Westminster

The Project

We were approached with the task to create an upscale lighting design to provide both ambiance as well as safety lighting for the alumni gathering.  There were many options considered in the end we decided a classic bistro look would provide them with exactly the look they were hoping for.  Keeping the lights aerial to ensure there were no trip hazards was crucial to the final look and safety requirements.  The classic design allowed Westminster to utilize the courtyard area to ensure an amazing experience for their alumni.

Lovett

The Project

This design was for Lovett’s fundraising Gala to support the school.  The location they chose was the Atlanta Zoo in the Carlos Ballroom. Since the windows of the Carlos Ballroom look out to the Elephant enclosure so we went with a safari theme for the event.  The entry was flanked with large images of animals to set the tone for the evening.  Once inside the guests were greeted by a step and repeat embellished with lighting and a LED sign for the great guest photos.  Inside we kept the design simple but elegant with close to 100 up lights to set the mode for the evening.  The simple interior design was a perfect balance of impression while not being over the top and taking the focus off the venue and the animals.

Atlantic Station

The Project

Atlantic Station approached Illuminating Design to help liven up the green space where patrons gather to hang out and talk or watch one of the local sports teams play on the big screen.  This is a perfect opportunity to use products by our partner company Blue Hopper.  The Blue Hopper system allows for app control of various types of lighting including pixels, bistro, roofline etc.  For this application we combined bistro lights as well as the roof lights.  This allows for a fitting aerial lighting design which can be set to the colors of the moment with movement or static lighting.  We are in discussions to expanding the currently lighting with tree wraps to connect the entire area.
